Uploading Music
Q: Is there a file size limit for the MP3s that I am uploading?
A: Yes, all uploaded MP3s must be less than 8 megabytes.
Q: What bit rates do Indie Music Store support?
A: Indie Music Store supports the most common constant bitrates ranging from 8 to 448 kbps, although we
recommend that MP3s have a bit rate of 128, 160, or 192 kbps.
Q: What sample rates does Indie Music Store support?
A: Indie Music Store supports common sample rates ranging from 8 to 44 kHz, although we recommend that MP3s have
a sample rate of either 22 or 44 kHz.
Q: I am getting errors when I try to upload my MP3s. What should I do?
A: First, check that your MP3 is less than 8 megabytes in size and is encoded with an acceptable bit rate and
sample rate as mentioned above. If all checks out, trying re-encoding with a different MP3 encoder. Each MP3 encoder
is unique and some of them create MP3 files that are unreadable by Indie Music Store software. We recommend using
LameXP, a graphic user interface for the
wildly popular Lame MP3 Encoder. We guarantee that your MP3 will be successfully uploaded if you use LameXP with a bit
rate of 128 or 160 kbps. If you are still getting errors, contact us at
imsteam@indiemusicstore.com and we'll work with you to solve the problem.
